Track
contracts issued
Several petty contracts were recently awarded to BVI
companies for remedial works on the wall around A.O.
Shirley Recreation Grounds as part of the new track
project.
The Chief Minister's Office awarded six petty contractors
for the perimeter wall around the territory's main track
and football venue. Contracts varied from $27,000 to
$36,000, and were signed with Wattley's Enterprises,
Sinclair Flemming, Ishmael Scatliffe, Gene Hodge, Leslie
Smith and George Malone.
The total sum of the six petty contracts was $184,729.
Work on the wall began Feb. 1 and is expected to be
completed by the end of the month.
The projects, being completed under the supervision
of project manager Karl Thomas, form part of the government's
overall scheme to develop a world class athletic and
football facility in the BVI.
The government awards petty contracts for all works
that do not exceed $75,000. The Chief Minister's Office
is the co-ordinating agency for the track development
project, which is part of the government's initiatives
to develop sports tourism and encourage youth involvement
in sports.
