Writer thanks BVIEC for diligence

Last Friday at 8 p.m. I was driving up the driveway to my home in Carrot Bay when I heard a loud explosion and then all of the lights in the surrounding homes went out. I groaned at the thought that the power would be out for hours and I had had it in my mind that I wanted to take a nice warm shower and then spend some time on the computer responding to e:mail. I wondered whether there would be a further delay in restoring power because of the heavy rain and wind.

As soon as I got into the house I called BVI Electricity Corporation to report the power outage and ask when I might expect the power to return. The person answering said that the men were at East End and that it was uncertain when they would be at Carrot Bay.

Expecting to be in darkness for much of the night, I settled into bed with my flashlight to read a book. However, I was delighted when the power was restored at about 10 p.m. and I was able to take up the activities that I had earlier planned.

This note is to express my sincere appreciation for the BVIEC workmen who were so swift in restoring the power to our area. Despite the fact that it wasn't a large number of people without power, that the weather was terrible, and they were already working on another electricity problem somewhere in the East End, they came very quickly to our area and fixed what was broken.

I thank you for the spirit of service that you showed, and want you to know how grateful I am for your diligence, care and hard work.
