To allow Premier’s Office Permanent Secretary Brodrick Penn to focus on his role as chairman of the new Disaster Recovery Coordination Committee, Dawn Smith has been appointed to act as PS effective Nov. 1, government announced yesterday.

Ms. Smith, the general counsel at the Financial Services Commission, was appointed to the role by Governor Gus Jaspert after he considered the advice of the Public Service Commission.

As chairman of the DRCC, which was appointed by Cabinet, Mr. Penn is coordinating the activities of the government ministries, as well as public and private sector bodies.

Ms. Smith previously was a member of the PSC, but she has relinquished that post, according to government.

The announcement did not say how long she will act as PS.
