His Royal Highness Prince Richard of Gloucester spent part of his afternoon touring historic sites along the street accompanied by Governor Boyd McCleary, staff assistants, government representatives, photographers and a large security detail from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.
As he walked past the Road Town Methodist Church, several dozen students from St. George’s Primary School stood ready to greet him, a few hopping up and down with excitement.
The Duke of Gloucester, a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, is the 20th royal in the line of succession to the British throne. His visit, which is scheduled to end Friday, was planned ahead of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the 60th anniversary of her ascension to the throne.
