Following an investigation that lasted several months last year, 34-year-old Romaine Baird of Pasea Estate has been charged with theft, obtaining property by deception, and possession of proceeds of criminal conduct, police said.

Police alleged that Mr. Baird unlawfully acquired and used the complainant’s card for unauthorised transactions totalling more than $19,000 locally and internationally.

“We take allegations of financial misconduct seriously and are committed to thoroughly investigating such matters,” said Police Commissioner Mark Collins. “Our dedicated officers have worked diligently over several months to uncover the truth in this case. We will continue to collaborate with local and international authorities to ensure justice is served and uphold the integrity of our financial systems.”

Mr. Baird was granted bail of $40,000 to appear at the Magistrates’ Court on April 25, police said.
