The territory’s three Rotary clubs will host about 500 Rotarians
from around the region at a district conference that will be held here for the first time next May.
Vance Lewis, the first Virgin Islands Rotarian to hold the post of Rotary District 7020 governor, outlined some of the plans during a press conference held to announce Scotiabank as the event’s “platinum sponsor.” The VI was named as host in 2010 when Mr. Lewis’ appointment was announced, as it is customary for the DG’s home country to host the conference. The clubs plan to showcase the territory during the event, which is expected to draw Rotarians from countries including St. Maarten, St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Barths, Jamaica, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti, Mr. Lewis said. The seven-day conference will feature cultural presentations as well as field trips and sightseeing around the territory.
