Eight people, including several schoolchildren, were injured in a traffic accident Saturday morning on Great Mountain Road, police said.

Four of them were treated at Peebles Hospital and released the same day. Four others, whose ages range from 14 to 18, were hospitalised for a longer period, according to Tamara Archibald-Gill, public relations manager at the BVI Health Services Authority.

Two have since been released; the other two were transferred to St. Thomas, where they are “recovering well,” Ms. Archibald-Gill said yesterday.

The eight injured were in a Dodge Durango SUV that ran into the hillside while driving down Great Mountain Road at 7:45 a.m. and collided with another vehicle, according to police.
