A decade has passed since the publication of the anthology Virgin Islands Callaloo Poets – Poetry from the Caribbean.
During that time, not much has been done to formally document the talents of the territory’s many poets, said Dr. Patricia Turnbull, a lecturer at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
That could change soon through a collaboration with House of Nehesi Publishers in St. Martin.
A new anthology titled Where I see the Sun – Contemporary Poetry in the Virgin Islands will feature submissions from VI residents as well as Virgin Islanders living abroad, according to Dr. Turnbull.
Poets can e-mail up to five poems relevant to the Virgin Islands to houseofnehesipublish@gmail.com. Each poem must not exceed 40 lines. Submissions must include a cover letter, a biography of not more than 50 words, an address, a telephone number, and e-mail address.
See the Feb. 18, 2016 edition for full coverage.
