On Friday, students got an early preview of the Afro-Cuban performers who will take the stage at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

During a complimentary show, the IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Group explained the history of their dance moves and demonstrated instruments such as the conga. They also taught participants how to dance the rumba.

Some of the students volunteered to take the stage and dance along with one of the group members.

Later, a male dancer in a red-and-black outfit left the stage, handing out candy to some of the younger students in the crowd.

He lifted one of them on his shoulders as he danced through the audience.
