On Saturday afternoon, more than 20 police officers, dressed in crisp white uniforms, marched from the Road Town Police Station to the Festival Village Grounds, followed by prison and fire officers, the police band, and members of the Virgin Islands Cadet Corps.

They were headed to the Queen’s Birthday Parade, a celebration of the United Kingdom monarch’s 85th birthday.

At the village, hundreds of residents gathered, awaiting their arrival. When the marchers arrived, they lined up on the field in formation, alongside students from several primary schools.

Then Governor Boyd McCleary arrived and took the podium, giving brief remarks before reading a message to the Queen.

Then he inspected the ranks, and they performed a march-past.
