The heavier the rain fell, the harder the karate students sparred.
Dressed in white uniforms, the Purple Dragon members performed in the pouring rain on Saturday as hundreds of onlookers cheered from under tents set up in the Sir Olva Georges Plaza.
The children’s display was one of several performances held over the weekend at Christmas on Main Street.
Shortly before the group of about two dozen children took the stage, an orchestra of students from the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports played Christmas carols for a growing crowd. The performances came to an end with the Clash of the Carollers.
Meanwhile, vendors sold gift items, food and drinks under nearly 50 tents set up along Main Street.
Some vendors said the sporadic rainfall over the weekend seemed to have dampened attendance, but others said they were pleased by the level of business they saw at the two-day event.
