On Saturday, the women’s course record fell during the off-road Red Bull BVI X-Tri at Smugglers Cove.

Carolina Pettigrew won the Women’s Division and broke the course record set by Kay Reddy last year. Ms. Reddy finished in second, while Sarah Carroll came in third place.

Ms. Pettigrew completed the course in 54 minutes and 58 seconds, taking almost three and a half minutes off Ms. Reddy’s former record, which had broke Ms. Pettigrew’s 2006 course record.

In the Men’s Division, Antony Spencer took the top spot, followed by Richard Morgan and Aaron Gardner in third place.

Team Three won the team division with husband and wife duo Cayley and Justin Smit competing in the swim and bike segments, respectively. Liz Ricardo competed in the run.

In the second running of the aquathon, Natasha Ruscheinski was victorious for the second year. Adrian Copaceanou finished one minute behind after a strong run. Jenny McIvor finished in third.

The X-Tri consisted of a 600-metre, two-lap swim in Smugglers Cove, which included a sprint around a large Red Bull can on the beach at the end of the first lap. Competitors then completed a four-mile bike through Belmont Estate and around Steele Point to finish back at Smugglers Cove. The race ended with a two-mile run along Arawak Drive and back along Palm Drive.

The event’s aquathon (swim/run) consisted of a three-lap, 900-metre swim and a two-lap, four-mile run.

In the 4 Four Islands Cup, Ms. Reddy knocked Ms. Ruscheinski off the top spot, who now leads by five points.

Mr. Spencer has an eight-point lead over Mr. Morgan.
