For years, the Attorney General’s Chambers lacked an ideal space to carry out legal research.

Former quarters in the Central Administration Building were cramped, and mould had grown on several sets of law books, officials said during the 2011 Standing Finance Committee meetings.

Those difficulties are a thing of the past.

During a ceremony Tuesday, officials unveiled a new public law library at the chambers’ relocated offices at the TTT Building.

The facility will give lawyers and other residents a place to improve their knowledge of the law, Premier Dr. Orlando Smith said Tuesday.

“They say that ignorance of the law is no excuse. With this in mind, every effort must be made to ensure that the laws of the territory should be available in a format that can be easily accessed,” he said.
