During two public meetings this week, residents will get a chance to weigh in on government’s controversial proposal to expand Beef Island’s Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.

Deputy Premier Dr. Kedrick Pickering, whose Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour’s portfolio now includes the BVI Airports Authority, is inviting the community to the meetings, according to Government Information Services.

The meetings “are designed to explain the plans and intent that the ministry has for the development” of the airport, according to a GIS press release.

“Additionally, conceptual ideas will be given for public feedback on the two leading options for runway expansion done through an impact assessment,” the press release said.

The first meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East End/Long Look Community Centre. The second will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall in Road Town.

For more information call the ministry at 468-3701, extension 2147.
