Police charged two men on Friday after searching a home and finding an illegal firearm and a man who entered the territory illegally, said Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

Special Investigations Unit officers searched the home of Kevin Moorehead, of Fat Hogs Bay, and found a 0.22-calibre semi-automatic rifle, as well as a box containing 23 nine-millimetre bullets in his bedroom, said Ms. Drayton.

They also found Kennyson Daniel, a native of St. Lucia, on the premises. Mr. Daniel was charged with illegal entry because he could show no evidence that he entered he territory legally, and Mr. Moorehead was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of explosives, smuggling, and harbouring a person, Ms. Drayton said.

The information officer said investigations are ongoing.
