At the Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-DaBreo told a repeat offender that her patience was wearing thin.

Kevern Leonard, who pleaded guilty to theft, allegedly stole $987 worth of automobile parts from a Suzuki Grand Vitara in Carrot Bay between Dec. 15 and 27.

Recalling that the defendant had appeared before her on “numerous occasions,” Ms. Baptiste-DaBreo said it was clear he had not taken advantage of her previous leniency.

“I will not be taken for a fool,” she remarked.

Mr. Leonard then received a one-year sentence suspended for two years.

The magistrate urged the defendant to stay on the right side of the law for the sake of his family.

“Your children will pay for your mistakes,” she said.

Mr. Leonard did not have a defence attorney.
