The family of Shaquoi Smith, a 24-year-old firefighter who died on April 22 after reportedly succumbing to injuries sustained during an April 18 scooter wreck on Hope Hill, has ordered an autopsy on his body, Police Information Officer Akia Thomas stated on Tuesday.
Ms. Thomas’ statement comes after reports that Mr. Smith’s family ordered his body to be transported back to the morgue at Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital to undergo an autopsy rather than being buried at the Johnsons Ghut Cemetery.
“Police are continuing investigations in this matter. I cannot comment any further,” Ms. Thomas added.
