The Brandywine Bay development project is projected to cost at least $1.5 million, according Government Communications Director Arliene Penn.

“This does not account for unforeseen factors or variables which has the potential to change the overall cost,” Ms. Penn stated in an e-mail.

The Ministry for Natural Resources and Labour’s project – designed to offer cruise ship passengers another beach option apart from Cane Garden Bay – was initially slated to cost $300,000, according to its planning documents.

Neither Ms. Penn nor Ronald Smith-Berkeley, MNRL permanent secretary, could be immediately reached for comment about the project timeline or why the cost projection increased so dramatically.
