CDB training

The Caribbean Development Bank is training 13 Haitian hotel employees at a workshop in Barbados that began Monday, the institution announced. The training programme will last until May 3 and is designed to help employees learn skills in food and beverage management, front desk operations and housekeeping, according to a CDB press release. The bank’s Caribbean Technological Consulting Services and the Haitian Tourism Association are collaborating in the training. Last year the groups trained nine Haitians in tourism skills. The programme is “intended to contribute to filling the void created by a number of qualified persons who have migrated from Haiti after the earthquake, and to complement the limited training provided in Haiti due to the absence of a well-established hotel trades training institution,” according to the CDB.
