Hospital equipment

The Ministry of Health and Social Development has purchased more than $1.2 million worth of medical equipment — including sterilisation devices, generators, sinks and other specialised devices — for the new hospital, according to a contract recently filed at the High Court Registry. A $360,841.95 deposit was sent to the Florida-based Biomedical International Corporation, and the $862,234.33 balance will be paid in installments, the Feb. 28 contract states.

Good-bye to AE

American Eagle Airlines Flight 4795, a 72-passenger ATR-72 aircraft, made the company’s final flight from the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport Sunday. The airline, which for decades offered the largest seating capacity of any carrier along the Beef Island to San Juan, Puerto Rico route, had 57 passengers aboard its final departing flight from the Virgin Islands, according to a BVI Tourist Board press release. The airline ceased service from its regional San Juan hub and will return its leased ATR-72s to the lessor, airline officials said previously.
