Consolidated Water

Consolidated Water Co. Ltd., the Cayman Islands-based water production company that has a stake in Ocean Conversion (BVI) Ltd., announced that its second quarter revenues increased 17 percent over last year. Consolidated Water attributed the $2.1 million revenue increase mostly to inflation-related increases in the rates it charges to customers for water. According to an Aug. 9 press release from Consolidated Water, the company’s service revenues and the volume of water it produced also rose over last year, factors that helped produce an 87 percent rise in net income. Additionally, the company’s “other income” tripled in the second quarter, to $741,682, due mainly to a payment from the Virgin Islands government related to a 2009 court ruling over the ownership of the Baughers Bay desalination plant.
