Cell service restored

Telecommunications provider CCT Global Communications has restored its mobile phone network after a “critical failure” caused a system-wide outage on Dec. 31, the company announced. As a temporary measure, customers had been able to use Digicel’s and LIME’s networks. According to a CCT press release, the company plans to compensate its customers and launch a “special promotion” in the future.

Labour renovations

The Labour Department’s Road Town offices at the Ashley Ritter Building are currently undergoing renovations valued at more than $68,000, a project scheduled to finish in mid-February, documents show. According to documents recently filed with the High Court Registry, Natural Resources and Labour Minister Dr. Kedrick Pickering signed a $68,98.47 contract with the Louis Wells Woodwork Shop “to conduct construction works for the reception and photo area” of the department’s offices. The petty contract was signed on Dec. 7 and stipulates that the works, which will include new doors, a suspended ceiling, carpet tiles and a $17,376 reception desk, are to finish on Feb. 16. The department is currently assisting the public through temporary offices set up on the second floor of the building.

FSC warning

Financial Services Commission officials are warning the public not to do business with two companies that are purporting to offer options trading and other investment products although they aren’t licensed to do so. According to a press release from the regulator, members of the public should “exercise extreme caution” before doing business with the firms, Universal Investments International Limited and MIKA Holdings Limited.
