New BVIF CEO

BVI Finance appointed Elise Donovan, the current director of BVI House Asia, as its new CEO. Ms. Donovan is scheduled to take over the position from Interim Executive Director Lorna Smith on Oct. 30, according to BVIF.

In January, the agency officially transitioned from a government entity to a private corporation, though it still receives the majority of its funding from government. Ms. Donovan has served as the head of BVI House Asia — the territory’s representative office in the Asia Pacific region — since January 2014. She also previously served as the executive director of the BVI International Finance Centre, the predecessor to BVI Finance. Ms. Donovan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Carleton University and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University. “BVI Finance is delighted to appoint Elise Donovan as CEO and we are especially excited to have someone of such high calibre leading the voice of the BVI’s financial service sector,” said BVIF Chairman Kenneth Morgan. BVI Finance is responsible for promoting the sector.
