A group of Virgin Islands investors completed the purchase of minority interests in Village Cay

Marina Enterprises Ltd. and Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour Holdings Ltd. According to a press release, companies owned by members of the BVI Investment Club and a group of five other VI investment clubs purchased the outstanding 33-and-a-third percent stake in Village Cay. The BVIIC members also purchased a 25 percent stake in the Yacht Harbour. Now, the Sage Group of Companies owns 100 percent of both assets. The seller, former partner Island Global Yachting, owns and operates marina-based businesses around the world, including Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas. Beacon Publisher Russell Harrigan is the secretary of the BVIIC and has a financial stake in the businesses.

Regional telecommunications provider Digicel said Friday that the company purchased the mobile phone company Claro in Jamaica. Digicel also sold its businesses in El Salvador and Honduras to the firm America Movil, according to a Digicel press release.

Charter operator The Moorings announced earlier this month that it is adding a new type of catamaran to its fleet: the three-cabin, two-head Moorings 3900. The yachts will be included in a group of more than 140 boats being added to the company’s global fleet, some of which will be based in the Virgin Islands, the company stated in a press release.

The law firm Harneys placed an attorney to represent the firm full-time in Brazil, company officials said. According to a press release, Maria Pia Buchi, a Brazilian attorney, will be based in Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro in order to further build the firm’s business in Latin America.
