Building course

H. Lavity Stoutt Community College began hosting a “Safer Building Course” for contractors on Monday aimed at making buildings less vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis, the college announced. The weeklong course requires builders to “be familiar with high standards of construction planning, construction materials and construction methods,” according to the college.

Tax training

The Internal Revenue Department held a two-day training for Jost Van Dyke residents Monday on how to properly fill out tax forms and comply with tax laws, the department announced. For more information about future training sessions, contact the department at 468-3701.

Property ads

As of April 1, proposed property sales subject to non-belonger landholding licences must be advertised in both the print and online media, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour announced last Thursday. The advertisements must run for four consecutive weeks, and copies must be submitted along with applications for non-belonger landholding licences. Water bills

Customers of the Water and Sewerage Department will be able to collect their bills on the 25th of each month as of May 25, the department announced Thursday. The bills will be mailed out or can be picked up at the WSD’s Baughers Bay offices if customers don’t have a post office box, according to the department.
