Property owners on Anegada and Jost Van Dyke should contact their district officers, according to a release from the department. Green Globe

A second VI property has been recognised by an international body for implementing environmentally sustainable practices, the BVI Tourist Board announced Friday. Myett’s Garden Inn was one of four properties — along with Agape Cottages, Serendipity House and Gordian House — that signed up last November with the BVITB’s Sustainable Tourism Environmental Programme. The BVITB hired Tetra Tech, a California-based environmental and engineering consulting firm, to conduct assessments of the properties’ waste, wastewater, chemical and energy usage so that the innkeepers could focus on ways to reduce their environmental impact. After they make changes, the internationally known Green Globe organisation reviews their processes. The group certifies a firm’s facilities and business practices if it meets certain criteria related to the sustainability of its management practices as well as its environmental, social and economic sustainability. Agape Cottages was the first property in the VI to receive the Green Globe certification, according to the BVITB.
