Supporting NHI

The BVI Medical Association released a statement last week supporting the impending National Health Insurance programme. The BVIMA’s 91-word statement explained that the organisation believes that all “citizens” in the territory should have access to health care. “We view this plan as a significant step towards achieving this goal, and, by extension, improving the overall health and well-being of our entire population,” the statement concluded. NHI is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1.

 

Food fair

The Department of Culture announced on Friday that it’s inviting food vendors to register for this year’s Culture Week Food Fair. The agency is also encouraging the public to participate in this year’s festivities by dressing in “territorial attire” on Nov. 10. Interested vendors should contact the Department of Culture at 468-4373.

Financial newsletter

BVI Finance, the government-sponsored organisation that promotes the financial services industry, announced on Monday that it has re-launched its newsletter. The publication, Business Insight, will include one-on-one interviews with practitioners, feature stories and news updates. “With Business Insight, we made the decision to move to an original content newsletter with a focus on thought leadership pieces,” said BVI Finance Director Julien Johnson.
