IFC awarded

A monthly corporate finance magazine has recognised the Virgin Islands for its “innovations” in financial services products, according to Government Information Services.

Ten VI-based firms were also awarded for providing excellent service by Acquisition International Media Publishing Group. The United Kingdom-based group, which publishes Acquisition International magazine, gave its “2014 Offshore Excellence Award in Estate Planning” to the territory because of the VI’s reputation for servicing high-net-worth individuals, according to GIS. The International Finance Centre, a government-funded body that markets the industry overseas, accepted the award. “This award clearly represents our relentless efforts and ability to keep the pace with the latest ever-changing legislation and regulations overseeing complex operations that span the globe,” said Sylvia Moses, the IFC’s executive director. The ten VI firms awarded were Deloitte, “Best BVI Insolvency Practitioner;” Folio Corporate Services Limited, “Offshore Director Services Provider of the Year;” Forbes Hare, “Latin American Practice of the Year;” Harney Westwood & Riegels, “BVI Litigation Team of the Year;” Harneys, “Offshore Trust Creation Team of the Year;” ICAZA TRUST, “Offshore Capital Markets Law Firm of the Year;” Lennox Paton, “Offshore Fund Law Firm of the Year;” Newhaven BVI, “Offshore Secretarial and Fiduciary Services Provider of the Year;” Ogier, “Offshore Dispute Resolution Practice of the Year;” and Simpson Grierson, “Offshore Insurance and Product Liability Issue Specialist of the Year.”
