About a week after claiming that 98 percent of power had been restored on Tortola, BVI Electricity Corporation General Manager Leroy Abraham revised that estimate down to 90 percent.

Nevertheless, he said, three new feeders have been restored on the electricity grid as restoration efforts continue.

“By the end of March, the corporation is expected to have restored 98 percent of the territory’s electricity grid, taking into account that certain buildings are not structurally sound for reconnection,” he said.

Mr. Abraham did not explain the reason for his error last week, but he maintained his earlier claim that restoration of electricity is 95 percent complete on Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda.

Customers in the following areas are asked to make preparations for reconnection: Belmont Estate, Steele Point, Little Thatch Island, Windy Hill, Romney Park, Havers, Tredfall, Doty Estate, Shannon, Sage Mountain, Luck Hill, Brewers Bay, Mount Healthy, Georges North Side, Fat Hogs Bay, Paraquita Bay, Hodges Creek and Sophie Bay.

“The list is not reflective of all areas that require reconnection or where restoration teams are, but are areas where work has recently commenced,” according to a government press release.
