Disney-themed skits and songs were among the performances put on by students raising money for a trip to Asia on Sunday at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
On stage at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, the youths put their own spin on Disney favourites including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, the Little Mermaid, Frozen and others.
“It is instrumental to engage and expose children to theatre and the arts as it is a great avenue for self-expression,” said Group Director Portia Harrigan.
The show was a fundraiser for the second eCamps “travel abroad” trip, according to the group.
In four weeks, the campers are scheduled to head to Hong Kong and Singapore for a 21-day journey. While there, they will take part in various activities, including four days in the classroom with Singapore students.
Sunday’s show also featured performances by Kassandra Malone, Shane Liburd, The Adagio Dance Company, Brent Hoyte & the High Frequency Band, Deanna Wattley, Donna Cline-Thomas, Kirk Adams, Joseph George and others.
The eCamps British Virgin Islands organisation was established in 2012 in order to facilitate “global experiential learning” for ages 9-17, according to the group.
