Dozens of cars and scooters glistened in the sun in the field next to the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour on Saturday, competing for the top prize in a car show sponsored by the BVI Motorsports Association.

The show, which featured vehicles from Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Thomas and St. Croix, as well as the Virgin Islands, was also a way for the association to honour the memory of its late founder and president, Anthony “Big Red” deCastro, who died in December following complications from surgery.

“It’s a memorial car show for Big Red,” said Roy Thomas, the vice president of the association. “This was his big dream: to have an international car show on Virgin Gorda.”

Trophies named for Mr. deCastro were among the prizes for best of show and best of sound.
