The sun was very hot on Monday afternoon during the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Grande Parade, but that didn’t stop Grace Vanterpool from swaying from side to side and waving a white handkerchief as she led hundreds of people to the festival village named in her honour.
Easter Festival activities kicked off on Saturday with a food fair in Spanish Town and a wahoo fishing tournament.
That night, participants gathered for the official opening ceremony, where officials delivered remarks and Ms. Vanterpool received a plaque for her contributions to the festival through the years.
The events continued the following day with the Calypso Competition, where Mighty Leh Leh dethroned Sistah Joyce, becoming the new VG Calypso Monarch.
On Monday as the parade made its way to the Grace Vanterpool Festiville, the parade participants stopped at designated areas to perform special routines for two sets of judges seated under tents on the side of the road.
Shortly after the parade came to an end at the festival village, attendees were entertained by DJ Smasher, Caution Band, Cool Session Brass, Xtreme Band and Final Faze.
