The music that blared through loudspeakers at the Festival Village Grounds on Saturday night had dancehall, rap and soca beats.

But no, it was not a secular party. Most of the songs included religious messages centered on positivity and motivation.

Jesus And I, a Jamaican singer, chaired the concert. “We come here fi get rowdy fi Jesus Christ,” Jesus And I told the gathering.

The concert was part of Youth Explosion, an interdenominational event facilitated in large part by various Virgin Islands churches. The weekend of activities was designed to encourage young people to make positive decisions in life, according to organiser Theresa Felix.
