Volunteers on Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada held a series of successful cleanup activities last month, collecting a total of 93 bags of trash, according to Sister Islands Coordinator Sasha Flax.

Twenty-seven bags of garbage were collected on Anegada by staff of the BVI Tourist Board and the BVI Electricity Corporation along with members of the BVI Red Cross and other Anegada residents.

On JVD, students of the JVD Primary School, the Jost Van Dykes Preservation Society, the Church of God of Prophecy youth group, and another group led by Lena Warner collected 18 bags.

And on Virgin Gorda, 48 bags were collected by the students of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre, the Scouts, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, STARR Home and Gardening Works, and the Raw Skillz Track Club, among other groups.

“We hope that it will transfer into a continued sense of pride and cleanliness throughout the entire territory,” Ms. Flax said. “We also would like to thank the Department of Waste Management for their assistance and P3, Paper, Plastic products for their donation of gloves.”

The initiative was carried out under the Office of the Deputy Governor.
