Patrons at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s annual Christmas Concert might be tempted to sit back and enjoy the music, but this year they were advised otherwise.

“I think you need to actually tap your toes, tap your feet,” Dr. Allison Flax-Archer told the packed auditorium as the college’s seven-member Woodwind Ensemble prepared to perform. “Don’t sit back; don’t relax — and enjoy what we have to offer this evening!”

Though that ensemble was generally mellow and calm, other groups picked up the pace later in the evening and had the audience singing along to Christmas music.

When the HLSCC Stingray Singers took the stage, they entertained the audience not only with songs but with dances.

“It’s been a good semester for us; the children have worked really hard,” said Eric Christian, who leads group. “We won’t do too much talking, but we will do a lot of playing, and we hope you enjoy the musical selection that we have for you tonight.”
