It’s great to be back in the territory after a summer in England. I think. The premier and his deputy were on the plane with us, but their vehicle picked them up at the plane door and whisked them away, so they didn’t see what was happening in the terminal.

Inside, the computers were not working, and the staff did not seem to realise this before a plane full of passengers came in. Eventually, the staff had to start entering details by hand, which took a long time.

Entry form

Also, the computer issues meant that the newly introduced digital entry form could not be used. This latter is an excellent step forward, even if the form is twice as long as the Antigua form. As you may know, you enter your details on your mobile phone, preferably before arrival, and, if the system is working, just flash the QR code at the reader.

However, I noticed that there are large signs all around the immigration and customs departments barring the use of cell phones! Surely some adjustment is required?

New traffic system

Meanwhile, taxis that are not registered at the airport are no longer allowed to park in front of the terminal. Passengers have to traverse to and from the car park to the terminal. All very well if you are fit, have little baggage, and it’s not raining — but difficult for the less able.

Yes, it’s good to be back. What else awaits me?
