Following a report that a medical procedure was performed at her home, interdicted police constable Karina Brea was charged with offences including inflicting grievous bodily harm, police announced last Thursday.

After a search of her residence, Ms. Brea was also charged on Dec. 14 with possession of proceeds of criminal conduct and “person not registered as a medical practitioner,” according to a press release from Police Information Officer Akia Thomas.Ms. Thomas did not respond to a request to clarify the latter charge.

Police Commissioner Mark Collins stated that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force will investigate all allegations made to the force.

He also reiterated his position that police officers must abide by the force’s Code of Conduct and that they will be prosecuted if found to have committed a crime, according to the press release.
