Five men were arrested Friday and charged with drug and money laundering offences after they were found to be in possession of 114 kilograms of cocaine, valued at $11.4 million, according to a police press release.

Police also said they recovered more than $688,000 in cash.

James Telesforde John, 62, of Newbush; Hugh Ericksson, 42, of West End; Leon King, 31, of Cane Garden Bay; Gerry Freeman, 48, of St. Thomas; and Jomo Jalan Jack, a 28-year-old native of St. Vincent, were charged with possession with intent to supply controlled drugs, being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and money laundering.

Mr. John was also charged with importation of controlled drugs, and Mr. Jack was charged with conspiracy to import controlled drugs.

“This is a significant amount of drugs and money to have been seized by officers,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kath Adams. “The damage these drugs could have inflicted upon particularly the young people in this area, and the economic damage this can lead to, cannot be underestimated.”

Anyone with further information about the matter is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477.
