Police have apprehended Jamal Freeman, who was wanted since Jan. 1 after escaping from custody, they said.

At the time of his escape, Mr. Freeman was seeking medical assistance after being arrested for theft-related incidents, according to the Police Information Office.

“However, persistent efforts by officers resulted in his apprehension and subsequent charges,” the release stated.

Mr. Freeman, 29, of Long Look, has been charged with two counts of theft, resisting arrest, assault on police, escaping lawful custody, and landing without the leave of an immigration officer, police said.

He appeared at the Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until his next court appearance.
