After completing police training, eight officers were promoted from auxiliaries to constables on the morning of June 1, police announced the same day.

All eight were part of the last cohort to graduate in April from the training, which they entered as police auxiliaries before being promoted, according to a statement from Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

While giving the new constables their appointment letters, Police Commissioner Mark Collins encouraged each one to use every opportunity to excel in their careers.

“I guarantee you will have many chances to prove yourself worthy of this promotion,” Mr. Collins said. “I encourage you not to miss one. We are all watching to see those that will meet and excel the challenges that lie ahead.”

The eight new constables are Florita Lake, Zain Bronstorph, Roxanne Thomas-Iwaru, Petrina Ettienne, Jacqueline Williams, Melissa Edwards, Gamaliel Swift and Keila Industrious, according to the statement.
