Drivers of noisy vehicles should prepare for a crackdown, police warned this week.
For the rest of this year, the police force will be targeting loud scooters and heavy-duty trucks as it strengthens enforcement of the Noise Control and Abatement Act, 1996, according to acting Deputy Police Commissioner Dariel Robinson.
“We continue to receive complaints from residents across the territory regarding excessively loud bikes and large trucks,” said Mr. Robinson, who oversees operations in the police force. “These disturbances are not only disruptive, but they also prevent many, including our elderly population, from getting proper rest. This is a community issue that we are committed to addressing.”
Anyone found in violation of the noise control law may be arrested, charged and taken before the court, police warned.
“We are urging the public to refresh their understanding of what the act says and to share this information with friends and family members who own or operate loud bikes or trucks,” Mr. Robinson said. “In 2025, we will be taking firm action against offenders.”
