In the absence of any law that allows leniency after a hurricane, police are warning that motorists without a licence and insurance will be prosecuted.
“My officers are finding more and more persons driving unlicensed and uninsured vehicles, and the practice poses serious risk to owners, other drivers and even pedestrians,” said Police Commissioner Michael Matthews.
He added that some vehicles that have been written off by insurers are still on the roadways.
“I have instructed my officers to take actions against anyone driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle,” he said.
