That’s what the 23 members of the Vendors Association of the BVI are asking for, according to letter from the group, and Frances Springette, a long-time vendor.

The public should know that contrary to a suggestion made at Dr. Vincent Scatliffe’s recent “town hall” meeting, the members of the association are not squatters, but licensed business operators, Ms. Springette said.

According to the letter, which Ms. Springette provided to the Beacon along with a copy of the group’s latest government-issued Certificate of Incorporation, the association started in 1996 with 15 vendors. Since then, the group has grown to 23 members. In the years since, according to the letter, government has pledged to help the vendors with setting up more permanent structures, but that help never came. The Certificate of Incorporation lists the group’s location as Wickham’s Cay I, Cruise Ship Dock, Road Town.
