When Tristan Liburd strutted to the centre of the stage in a black swimsuit that left little to the imagination, the cheers reached a crescendo at the Virgin Gorda Catholic Community Centre on Saturday night.

Mr. Liburd was competing against Darnell Flax, Dwayne Leonard Jr. and Jeremy Rubaine-Fraser for the title of Mr. GQ, and the mostly female audience was well pleased.

The pageant was held as a fundraiser for the upcoming VG Easter Festival, said Adrianna Soverall, a member of the festival’s organising committee.

“It went very well,” Ms. Soverall said Tuesday. “The guys put forth their best. It was very entertaining, and they showed great sportsmanship.”
Though the swimwear segment drew the loudest cheers, the men also showed off their talents in other areas.

At the end of the night, Mr. Flax was crowned winner and Mr. Leonard was first runner-up.

The winners are…

Mr. GQ – Darnell Flax

Mr. Popularity – Dwayne Leonard

Best Introduction – Darnell Flax

Best Swimsuit – Tristan Liburd

Best Talent – Dwayne Leonard

Best Eveningwear – Dwayne Leonard
