Ian Thomas, the radio host and entertainer known as “DJ Commodore,” appeared in Magistrates’ Court Monday charged with rape and unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16, Crown Counsel Valston Graham said.

Mr. Thomas is alleged to have given a ride to a 15-year-old girl on March 23, then brought her to his Josiahs Bay home, where he is said to have had sex with her without her consent, Mr. Graham said.

He was granted $20,000 bail with one surety and told to return to court June 1, the prosecutor said.

The matter was held in camera due to the age of the victim, and Magistrate Charmaine Rosan-Bunbury asked courtroom officials to clear the court before proceedings began.
