Eduord Bueno Beltran

Members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force are currently searching for an inmate who escaped from Her Majesty’s Prison at Balsam Ghut sometime Monday night, according to police.

Eduord Bueno Beltran, a native of the Dominican Republic, was last seen at 8 p.m. that day, according to Acting Police Information Officer Sergeant Carl Mason. In July, Mr. Beltran began a yearlong sentence for illegal entry.

According to a police press release, a section of the perimeter fence on the prison grounds was cut, “presumably to facilitate the escape.”

Law enforcement agencies here and abroad have been informed of the escape and provided with a description and photograph of the fugitive. He is described as being 242 pounds and five feet, 10 inches, with a light complexion.

“Although Beltran is not regarded as a danger to the public, he is unlawfully at large from the prison and should therefore not be approached,” the release said.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the RVIPF’s non-emergency number 311, Crime Stoppers, or the Special Investigation Unit at 468-2718.
