On Friday Nov. 25, a Sea Cows Bay man was charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with a May incident that led to the death of Sophia Wilson, the police announced on Tuesday.

Police alleged that Ms. Wilson, a Jamaica national, was struck by a vehicle driven by Alixson Auguste while she walked east on the sidewalk near the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

Ms. Wilson was taken to the hospital and later transferred overseas for medical care, police said. However, she eventually succumbed to her injuries.

Mr. Auguiste was granted bail of $25,000 with one surety to appear before Magistrates’ Court on Feb. 23, according to police.
