Deputy Premier Dr. Kedrick Pickering, the minister of natural resources and labour, thanked the employers for “stepping forward” and attending the event at The Sticket.

Participating employers included government agencies like the police; resorts like Necker and Guana islands; and large retailers, such as Road Town Wholesale.

In a ceremony to open the fair, Dr. Pickering (R-D7), Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn, and Eighth District Representative Marlon Penn spoke briefly, offering encouragement to job seekers.

After performing an a cappella gospel number, Levor Lettsome advised job seekers to follow the unintended example of his performance for the morning, which had been slated to include some backing music.

“Things may not go as planned, but you can still succeed,” Mr. Lettsome said, adding that persevering in the face of challenges is useful in many areas of life.
