“I think they’re doing really well,” ESHS band director Andre Braithwaite said during intermission. “All their hard work is paying off.”

About 100 students performed during the three-hour event, which included a mixture of traditional and modern hits.

Leah Smith, a tenth grader at ESHS, said she was both excited and nervous to perform.

Ms. Smith, who’s been playing the flute for four years, added that she hoped the audience members would be touched by her performance.

“Music is life,” she said, explaining why she chose to study the subject. “Music makes life beautiful. It inspires people.”
