The student, who was sharing her idea during the Junior Minister of Tourism Speech Competition at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Saturday night, told the crowd that the amusement park would offer games, rides and local foods.

It would appeal to visitors and residents alike, and it would provide the youth with a safe and positive place to have fun, Ms. Grant explained.

“Can you imagine it?” she asked the audience. “Can you already see it?”

The contest, which was organised by the BVI Tourist Board, gave students like Ms. Grant an opportunity to share their ideas about how to promote or improve tourism in the territory.

Four students competed: Ms. Grant, of Cedar International School; Keliann Freeman, of Elmore Stoutt High School; Shamir Smith, of the Seventh-day Adventist School; and Keira St. Ross, of Bregado Flax Educational Centre.

The judges ultimately awarded first place to Ms. Freeman. The ESHS senior won a gift bag, a laptop, and a trip to Grenada to compete in the regional competition in October.
